Hello Switcher Saturday fans.  Welcome once again to our weekly celebration of little locomotives that do big things.

For this weeks kick off we have a P&LE 0-6-0 spotting a new transformer on the FCC (Filing Cabinet Central).

And just for fun, a bright orange thermos bottle from the last time I was able to visit the RR museum of PA. 20191129_100028[1]

Switcher Saturday works like this:

- Open to all scales and gauges, though obviously O is a favorite.

- The thread never actually closes, so feel free to add later in the week. Saturday is just an alliterative title.

- Anything switcher related is fair game.  From little yard goats to large road switchers and everything in between.

- Everybody be nice.

- Stick to the OGR terms of service for pictures.  If its your or you have permission to use it, go for it!  If you just can't get permission to use it, but it's on topic and you think it's cool, post a link instead.

With all that said please share your photos, stories, memories, etc!  We love them all.

Stay safe and High Greens to All - JHZ563

Good morning fellow switcher fans!  Today I have a story:  A DOCKSIDER's DAY AT WORK ( begins a few frames down ) preceded by a few other switcher photos.  The first is a pic  I shared a couple weeks ago ... however this time I share it in black and white, giving it a 1950's sort of flavor.    IMG_3383-2

Patapsco and Backrivers VO-1000 ( left ) and Canton Railroad SW 1500 await their next assignment. IMG_3369

0-8-0 giving a billboard reffer a shove into the brewery spur.IMG_8810

GP-9 on the point of a passenger train.  Got to love the GP series of locomotive for they can do it all! IMG_0172

A DOCKSIDER's DAY AT WORK ... begins with a trip to the engine service track for a fueling and "once over " by the engine service crew. IMG_8926

Having a full sand dome is most important for any locomotive, especially a switcher.  The hogger of this little loco will surely be putting a lot of " grit on the iron" as the day goes on. IMG_8939

The service crew loves to service this " little engine that can!"  ... get err done! IMG_8942

A little grease here and a bit of oil there and she's good to go. IMG_8947

Number 97 couples on to her first assignment of the day..... move this 8 axle depressed center flat car from south yard to team track one. IMG_8953

97 in a reverse move,  pulls the car through Westend Tunnel. IMG_8954

The friends you meet along the right of way .... B&O SW9 passes by on the far track. IMG_8960

I hope everyone has a terrific weekend!  Be safe out there and be well!!

Hi SwSat Fans:  Another great weekend of super pictures!  My contribution this week is a little AMT "Beep" in US Navy, Philadelphia Navy Yard livery, moving a navy observation plane from the overhaul depot to deliver her to the class 1 interchange and back to the Fleet.

AMT Navy Beep

I worked for the Navy for nearly 20 years and lived near the Philadelphia Navy Yard, which I think is now closed.  It was the site of the Naval Aircraft Factory in the 1920's and 30's when the Navy actually built its own aircraft and aircraft engines ( No I was not there then...I'm not that old ! )

Just repainted this NW2. Needed a Pennsy switcher for my South Amboy operations, and while it's nowhere near as pretty now as it was in its original C&NW paint, it'll do the job. Removed the antenna wheel, oversized marker lights and added window glass to the cab. Number's slightly off the originals, but had to work with the numbers I had on hand.

TALES OF THE DOCKSIDER

Hello switcher fans!  This Sunday we find shop switcher X-8688 and her crew putting in some overtime.  The shop mechanics have an unusually high number of engines to ready for service on Monday. Those not under steam will have to be moved by X-8688.

One of those engines is pictured, B&A 4-6-6T 403.  X-8688 is pushing 403 into the engine house because she is needing maintenance and will be needed to haul commuters to Boston tomorrow.

Are you wondering what the Docksider crew will do with the OT pay?  Engineer Joe Safetyvalvoni has been eying a new rod and reel, so he’ll probably head to the tackle shop after work.  Fireman Vasik Semaphorowski isn’t sure what he’ll do with the dough, but don’t be surprised if he puts some extra money on the Red Sox at the local pub.  Fireman Mick O’Depot?  He’ll buy some flowers or a gift for one of his girlfriends.  There’s a reason for his dating prowness!
