Just wanted to note here a nice HOBBY SHOP in Sykesville, MD. Been in business 11 years; has O, HO, G and N scales. If you want remote control cars, remote control airplanes, models (remember those things you glue together) and any supplies, he has them or can get them. Glen (the owner) is very nice and knowledeable about everything. His prices are very good. If he does not have something in stock, he can tell you whether he can get it, and he will. And then he calls to say he has it.
I do N scale, and have bought all my track, purchased most cars, and had any repair work completed at The Moose Caboose.
I have purchased a number of MTH products as well.
For those who have tried MB Klein (a.k.a. model train stuff web site), and the latter's prices are also very good, I suggest you give Glen's store a try. I have found he beats MB Klein's pricing.
If you are looking for something, Glen uses a number of distributors, so things can be found. And he will look. He does this in a manner as if he is trying to find the item for himself! Glen seems to be of the approach that he really wants you to be a customer and really wants you to come back. And he hopes you always have a great experience at his store.
The Moose Caboose has a web site for advertising. Since the store is a local LHS, he does not have the staffing to run an online store as well. That is far outweighed by the brick and mortar building - it is a very unique expereince. I honestly can not think of a full line, independently owned hobby shop that sells trains that is in the Balt/Washington area - besides Glen's store. They may be out there and I just do not know, but this store is a very nice place, with owners that are very engaged with the customers, and I highly recommend it for new or experienced model railroaders.
