Does anyone know if you can use the sensor from a PS2 in a PS 3 engine? This is the sensor that reads the black and white band on the flywheel. If not, does anyone have a sensor or know where I can get one?

PS2 and PS3 tach sensors are different. The PS3 sensor is physically smaller.
I have them in stock, email in profile. As stated, PS-2 and 3 are different. G

The actual sensing element is smaller, but I'm sure the OP is talking about the board, very few people would be able to replace the sensor itself. Also, the PS/3 board has some active elements that may fail besides the sensor.

Yup. Was talking about the size of the element.
The size is not as relevant as different circuitry. I must be one of the few, I have replace the sensor and the comparator. G
I have no problem replacing SMT parts, but that's a skill that I'm sure a vast majority of the folks that use these parts probably don't possess, and many are likely not interested in acquiring such skills.
