Did you ever stop and consider that COLOR photography was not very prolific until the MID 50's. The film and processing were expensive for the average Joe. How many COLOR pictures do you see of steam engines? How quickly we forget.

I seem to have plenty of books with color steam photos.  There are even 8 mm color films of steam when steam was king.

The real problem for me with the ACF book is that after the first three pages it just gets repetitive in a way few train books ever have.
