There is only 1 or 2 layouts at York, it's a buy sell meet, 70% O Gauge, but 20% American Flyer and standard Gauge, & 10% everything else. Very little HO Gauge.
I see that family members can get in. I have a son, 15 and a daughter , 13 and my wife, I better not list her age.
What do I have to do as a TCA member to get them into the York meet with me?
Thanks for any info you can provide.

You just have to register them when you register. Spouses and minor children are admitted free with a registered member. With children, their dates of birth and ages must be provided on the registration form. You can see the form from this past meet here. I don't know how the spouse & children registration works with online registration, tho. I would imagine that you can register them at the meet itself, as well.

The whole fairgrounds??? Holy crap! Guess its time to join
Largest in the world I have heard. Somebody correct me if this is wrong.
and my wife and I love going to this show. I promise you'll be like a kid walking into a candy store for the 1st time when you walk through any of the halls at the show. Lots to see, buy and a chance to talk with really pleasant and knowledgable fellow members about this interesting hobby.
You won't regret joining....

I've been debating joining the tca for a while now. What goes on at the meets? Are there layouts there? Trains for show? What's the difference between a tca meet and a traditional "train show"
big difference i see is the tca meets have much more o gauge than the public shows. go to york ....you will think you died and went to heaven.-jim

Attendance has held around 13-14,000 for each of the last 5 or 6 York meets even in this lousy economy. The no application fee lasts until June. Join now!! York will not disappoint you especially if you live there.

And be sure to join us at Friday's on Thursday around 6:30 - 7:00!!
Even if you can only spend a day - a day at York is better than a day at work!

If going to York is possibly a one-time deal for you, you can always go one time as a guest, and many here will sign you in if you make arrangements to meet on site.
As for meets more local to you, you will have to do some research to know if you will find them worth attending. Find out where these meets are and post in the 3-rail section of the forum to ask opinions from people who have been to that meet before. Many TCA meets outside of the Eastern Division do allow the public to attend (usually after a members-only early entry period), so you don't necessarily have to join the TCA.
Before joining the TCA, check out their web sites thoroughly to see if it holds any other benefits that might be of interest to you.

The local TCA shows, at least in SE PA, are open to the public one hour after members can get in (8am/9am for instance). These shows are on the small side, but good deals can be had because many of the sellers are not full-time dealers. Often they just want to move their excess "stuff".
