It's getting dark and the dark green ocean water is choppy.

It sure looks like rough, dangerous water, and that tugboat and barge are barely hanging on.

What do you think that water is?

It's the drop cloth I used when I made the removable river.

What do you think of this drop cloth as a model of rough, choppy, ocean water?

Sorry, Arnold... couldn’t resist!!! But seriously, basically water is clear (unless it is from the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn), so really, the question should be “what is the color of the bed under your water”!!!

True, unless it has a lot of particulates suspended in it. You should see the Delaware at flood stage. Opaque brown.

Now one thing water never is is blue. That is 100% reflection of the sky. Modeling a creek is easy. Build the bottom with mud, rocks or whatever and pour in some resin. But what about deep water? Paint the bottom very dark and use more resin.

Arnold is painting on the blue reflection, and I must say with pretty good results, although you have to be careful it doesn't end up lookin like a swimming pool.
