The Gear Ratio in the USH USRA 0-8-0 Switcher?

No, but it used the standard USH gearbox.  I robbed the gearbox out of mine and stuck it on a cab forward, so the teeth are exposed, and I could count them - but just take any USH model and count the turns of the motor shaft for one driver revolution.

I did that with the gearbox on a USH PRR 2-8-2 many years ago and came up with 25:1.

I have since been told that the 0-8-0's used a 13:1 ratio.  Any truth in this?

The old PSC catalog shows the standard gearbox (inherited from USH?) at a ratio of 25:1.  PSC also had a double threaded worm (PSC Cat A-110) that could be used in this gearbox which resulted in a ratio of about 12.5:1.  I remember some complaints that the USH PRR I-1 Decapod used this worm, and buyers thought the engine ran too fast at 12 VDC.

All of this from my memory, except for the PSC catalog reference.

Yep, I have some of those gears.  Guess they didn't want a switch engine running 100 mph.
