The neglected BL2

I'm in the minority on these, I love the way they look. I wish MTH would do the Rock Island in red instead of red and black.

Ford saw how great the EMD BL2 did, and decided to follow their lead and manufacture the Edsel.

I like the comment on the Railpictures site.

I think it would look good with tailfins.   Maybe from a '59 Cadillac Couple DeVille. 

The Saratoga and North Creek have 2 BL2'S.  Number 56 is the new one, just painted last summer, at that time they were not using it.  Number 52 took us back home to Sartoga.  Very nice engines.

I have two "BLT's", both painted for the Bangor & Aroostook.  I like them.  So did the engineers on the B&A, but not much as the lead unit.  They liked having a few of them to drag heavy trains up the grades out of Oakfield.  They could get down and "dig potatoes".

They were in regular service for no more than 20 years. That is not very long compared to most diesel locos that lasted at least 30 years in service.

Reading,  Jersey Central,  New Jersey Transit, Penn Central. I have a custom Pennsy's in Tuscan and Brunswick Green

 

I like the Brunswick Green version.  I could definitely go for one of those.

 

In the future I would like to have one decorated for the Reading RR. Good for commuter passenger service.
