We've been waiting long enough. It's time to do the N&W J 611 justice and give all her fans what we've been waiting patiently for - a full-blown Vision line product. One that rivals the recent Big Boy. How about the locomotive, tender and auxillary tender together, with whistle steam and one additional steam effect, like the cylinder effect that's so prominent. Speakers in both tenders to get the great sound that's in the Big Boy. And please skip the depleting coal load. Go ahead and ask $2999 MSRP and let the pre-orders roll in. I'm tired of waiting - I need this train!

While you're at it, a legacy version of the 1218 and 2156 (with whistle steam, of course) would be much appreciated, too.

Thanks so much.

As much as I love my NW Js (I own 3 including RK, Premier and Legacy) the J has been done so very many times that I for one have zero interest in yet another rendition of it, even a VL version. Really hoping for an Allegheny (surprise surprise considering my VL Allegheny thread from a few months back!) with all the visible running gear, the sheer size and, if they do it right, crazy detail. Hoping it has cylinder steam effects. Not done enough and such a prototypical and cool smoke feature.

Peter

I still think the swinging bell is the greatest EVER vision line feature. Bring it back.

some other ideas for steamers:

1.cloth the awnings and curtains for the cab

2. A set of 'premium' figures specifically for the engine. Maybe an engineer and fireman figures in a few different poses, so they can maybe snap in And out of the cab seats? One pose seated in the cab, remove that and add a figure in the same outfit oiling the loco.. Ect.

3. Include a framed picture of the engine being duplicated with a printed out history of the locomotive.

I'm a UP guy so I would probably be suckered into this if Lionel made it; What I'm wondering is just what cool stuff you envision this bad boy to have? The VL Centipede was really cool to but not really worth having in VL as stated earlier in this thread. Diesels seem to be at a disadvantage with dreaming of Visionline. As a steam guy I really don't know what you diesel guys pine after in your locomotives. I loved the Gensets and wanted one just because of the trick three smoke units.

Make it reasonable and not in the $2900+ range, keep it in the $1400-$1900 range and they will sell. Any higher, keep them.

I'll second that as I'm sure the "other two" people who want one would as well.....

.....They could make extra individual road specific or un-decorated Vision Line Vandy Tenders too as a nifty way to upgrade engines.

Ahhhh.....the Vision line wish list......seems like the last one was just weeks ago......um...wait a minute.......

I agree.  I really like the cotton belt pictured, but Vision stuff needs a gimmick like the depleting coal load or the charging/discharging lights.  Just make a regular scale version gp40-2

i would agree but we need a Q1 which has only been done by Sunset some time ago.  I had an unstreamlined version that I sold ( me big dummy) and now can't find one for love or money ( or is it love nor money).

One with the proposed matching vista dome cars (in gleaming 18" aluminum) would have sold out! MTH has run it twice, yet still without the matching passenger cars.

I would love to see the M1 turbine! That thing is so big and powerful looking: amazing. Of course, lets try to keep it as low cost as possible for us people that want Vision Line but don't have $2999.99 or $3999.99 to spare!

Like the C&O M1 steam turbine...

I seem to recall it took MTH a long time to unload their C&O turbines for far less.

C'mon guys.. Haven't you had enough VL steamers?? And for sure does anyone really think they should make some one of a kind hunk of metal that a whole 8 people really want?!?

Let me ask.. what was and still is Lionel's best seller of all times???

You all know... the Santa Fe F3 ... its time to make the Vision line F3 that is the be all end all of all of them... good bye Atlas... see ya 3rd rail .. MTwho??

Lionel is going to show you how it's done!

Now come on LIONEL... this has been your flagship model as much as any steamer you ever made. Time to step up.. take a look at what Atlas and 3rd rail are doing ... and charging!!

Be like that little engine.." I think I can.. I think I can.."

Really? With that "China Drive" set-up?

Large steam engines, duplexes and articulated designs lend themselves as good candidates for a Lionel VL potentials. They commonly have many moving parts, big tenders, room for many speakers and gadgets and so on. Perhaps the only negative may be the need for an 0-72 track, but the VL BB has shown this to be a minor issue to most of its buyers...

I would like to see a PRR Q1 in streamlined and non streamlined, they can easily make a single mold for both with "add ons" and hence offer two products in one casting.

Cylinder blow down "DENSE" steam is a must!

Steam whistle is of course a standard by now, but we need larger smoke units reservoirs and better quality fan motors!

I hope this time Lionel goes for finer scale details, not the "exaggerated sized rails and so on" I see on the VL BB..

and it's all been done a few times over... it's time for something new and different...

I would still love a VL Allegheny!!!

How about doing a Vision Line Set? The Strasburg #90 Decapod and maybe two closed passenger coaches, one open passenger coach and a dinning car. The Decapod will have smoke, whistle smoke, a swinging bell. The passenger cars and dinner will have people (full crew and full passengers), dinner has smoke and sounds. All scale of course. I'd pay $2000 for that.

It would fit the Vision Line mission statement of never done equipment and talk about being unique. Nothing is unique about F units or GP 40s or diesels.....I may of gone too far.

>>I would still love a VL Allegheny!!!<<<<

To be a VL Alegheny it would need to be equipped with a feature not previously available on any engine.

Other then whistle & dynamo smoke, the super detailed JLC Allegheny had just about everything anyone would want including 4 chuffs and RS5. Its a sleeper...

MY vote goes to a VL Triplex

If you build it, they will come.

Gotta have depleting coal load, whistle steam, tender exhaust steam, swinging bell, and all sounds on BB plus an new sound effect . with VL coal cars

Dynamo steam is a great effect too and would be icing on the cake.

I think an Alleghany is more likely as it is the easiest for lionel to produce. Take the JLC tooling drill some holes for effects and spent the time working on internals.

They got my money if for either. It is an absolute must for more VL cars to match though.

Nope...VL steamers are the best thing going. However I would like A UP F3 ABBA unit. Its just hard pressed for me to say what the VL line would do to improve upon a really nice scale legacy unit. Give me at least two powered units with sound and smoke on all of them, detail with enough breakable stuff so it so that its not suitable for children and I'm happy. Lionel can keep the spinning fan blades. I'm not a diesel guy but what else should I want on an F3 or any diesel for that matter?
