Just like to share my treasure hunt. I got back into the hobby actually joined this forum a year ago today. I’m enjoying the learning curves and searching for all the little things I’ve come across that I must have. I was watching videos of Norfolk Southern OCS and the model trains some folks on here have (some of the popular guys) and I remember them saying how hard it was to find the MTH DAP NS ABA set . So I looked elsewhere for others stumbling across Lionel made one AA set, and actually finding a trailing A 4271 and so I bought it . Impulse buy which has a regret but maybe it doesn’t…. A couple weeks later I found the MTH Dap set and the extra B, mind you I’m also buying the Lionel NS 21” cars so I’m committed!!!
I searched and couldn’t find comparisons of the 2 with pictures so I will share them and share some more thoughts and plans in later posts.794E9CA1-33CB-4C62-8CDA-0595DF0E094B5233E1B9-5C1B-4D4B-BDE7-0433167083E5EDB5A928-0EA4-4AC2-9F01-9B22950B4D46

8D7F1DA9-4FB3-44DE-A0E6-E52784392ACASo just to let you know this won’t be a Lionel Vs MTH.

I’ll start with the trailing A 4271 from Lionel. I bought this on a binge of my must have and with a false lead on a Lionel super bass B unit. The trailing A doesn’t have a speaker, and most of you know this , but my plan was to run the super bass for sound.
Remind you this impulse buy was convinced I could run this and seeing pictures of the 4271 actually leading had me hitting the complete purchase button.
So a little about my collection that I should share is I’m all MTH but 1 NS genset from Lionel (the newer version)  which I ran Bluetooth by the way. I have no knowledge on legacy, tmcc , or whatever other system Lionel is or has.
  So here’s what I can tell you about the trailing A , Lionchief Bluetooth doesn’t recognize it ( tells me this in the manual) it does however run in conventional. Nice led lights, nice operating loco, ditch lights still work when pushing the horn button . So you might be thinking ok so what !!  Well my other plan was to run it with the new Lionel F9 Northern & Reading , which was the former 4270 and it’s B unit. I’m thinking that would be kinda interesting and might start raising a lot of questions.

only complaint;

Rear roof panel is sloppy as far as fit goes but other than that there’s no big take backs
