Here’s an 8976 from 1940 that’s been in my family and is still going strong after 80 years.

Sweet! And since you’re running in Realtrax, my solution is clear, conventional control. Our locos will last as long as there are motors. But seriously, it’s really wonderful that the train still runs and runs nicely. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for sharing. The best, it was Made in the U.S. of America. It doesn't get any better than that.
Come on guys, it's time to bring'em home to the U.S.A.
Someone took good care of that set !!
Nice!!
That is just beautiful.
That switcher was my uncle’s and he’s the one that hooked me on trains. This engine was my first in 1946 and it still works great and still smokes. There must be some pill residual still in the bulb.

I've got a 8976, love it! Best of all no electronics! Keep it running.
Great runners! Thanks for posting and Merry Christmas!
Bulletproof!
Sometimes, newer just isn't any better. This is one of those cases. And, the small sound of the little tinking bell can't be surpassed. Think of all the years that train has supplied smiles and joy to those who had a chance to run, see or hear it. Now we are part of that legacy. Merry Christmas to one and all.
Sweet memories!
This brings to mind my Texas Special Christmas,1954!
