When running trains and the train crosses from the power of one TIU to the power of another TIU the train stops.  When checking into the problem I find that the power from the variable 2 channel of the TIU is off.  I tried to turn it back on with the remote going to system, DCS.  I can not get the power to restore.  With my multi meter I checked the voltage going in and coming out of the TIU.  Going in I have 18 volts.  I unplugged the wires running to the power distribution blocks and find voltage ok on fixed 2 side but nothing on fixed 1 side.  Tried to reset the TIU  again with no luck.  Plugged all wires back into the TIU and power was restored to the track.  This has happened several times.

I am wondering if the TIU is bad or could be anyother problem?

Thanks

Sounds to me like the tiu is not turned "on" . (take a look...  is the red led on top of the TIU  lighted up?)

2 ways to turn it on.....

power to fixed 1 or an aux power supply.

Fixed 2 is a straight through connection  so that would explain power on fixed 2, however there would be no dcs signal.

I suspect you have a blown fuse on fixed 1...

Joe, So after unplugging and "re" plugging the wires back in everything works normal for no apparent reason and then randomly/suddenly that one TIU has no output again? If nothing was reset breaker or fuse wise it sounds like the power to the suspect TIU has become disconnected somehow.

I would open up the TIU and check the nuts on each of the terminals.  Sounds like they could have come loose.  Solution is to buy metric nuts (I don't have the size at my fingertips) and internal star washers, and add lock nuts after reasonably tightening the existing nuts.  I would do this ASAP, to avoid overheating contacts.
