I see quite a bit of interest in projects using TMCC commands so I thought I'd share an old (15 years)

one of mine.

Pictured is an engine controller thats a little bit more prototypical than the handhelds. Whats different is that I used the absolute commands instead of the toggle commands as used by the CAB-1. For instance the direction switch is labeled FWD-REV, the headlight switch is labeled ON-OFF. For diesel operation I use a 9 step throttle by using the absolute throttle commands. Each step is a certain throttle value. I wanted to use a 9 position switch but never got to do that. For steam its just a reguiar incrementing value.

That is a neat idea. How did you interface the switches and throttle to the TMCC system to process the commands?

It might be neat to have your control panel set up with a cab view camera screen above it or something like that so it appeared like you were really operating the engine like an engineer. Kind of like a train simulator type of thing.
