I want to run the lead loco in long hood forward(regular start position is short hood forward)
How do I go around do this?

Never tried this, but I wonder if you could treat the front one as the rear one?

According to the manual the front engine must point in the fwd direction. So I would reverse motor leads so that the forward direction is your long hood forward for the lead engine.
Other engines in the LU or MU use the DIR button to establish the engines orientation. G

It works with my Legacy SD80 powered/dummy, not sure if it'll work for TMCC.
I assume you're building a command system lashup with Legacy or TMCC?
Front engine program for Cab-1
TR->desired train #->lead engine #-> Front Coupler Button-> Direction Button-> set (horn will blow).
Rear Engine program for Cab-1
TR-> same train # as lead-> rear engine #-> Rear Coupler button-> Direction Button (only if you want it to face backwards)-> Set (horn will blow)
That should do it

Jake; what I am trying to do is;
Take your NYC Geep, and have it as the front loco with your SD80 as the trailing unit, but run the NYC geep long hood forward.
Follow Santa Fe18's instructions and you're in. I just did a lashup with both engines nose to nose and built a train both ways. Everything works as designed. Set the direction button on the loco if you want it to run in reverse before pressing set. Don't press the direction button if running in forward. Good luck!
Is that the Chessie SD9 as your last unit??
Yes it is-kind of cheesy really-a Geep with 6 axles is all -which is kinda cool-was advertised as having Odyssey-not-but it has great sounds, runs absolutely beautifully-got it dirt cheap-I wish I could locate another at that price- we are going to be buddies for awhile I hope-the four units together have a great blend of sounds together-a virtual symphony for the senses
That Chessie SD-9 is numbered #1833-it would be so easy to get another, number it #1838 or #1883 and pair them together. Those two kitty kats would look so purty together back to back-keeping my eyes open
