I like it as an easy way to improve static position time lapses. Looks like a good reason to buy a 3D printer - the rest of the parts are easy to get! Of course, an O gauge version would undoubtedly be even better.
Hadn't thought about doing a time lapse on a circle of track until I saw a sample video.
I have used my GoPro on a flat car and it worked great.... here's another project to work on in my spare time.
