Hey guys I was cleaning out some old closets and found some Super 8mm movies of my train layout I used to put up every Christmas as a kid. This is where it all started. Hope you enjoy!

I watched the video two days ago. Thank you Brian for reposting it because the link didn't work for me then. I really enjoyed the video and your old layout was very similar to the one I had as a kid. I wish I had the thought to take some 8mm videos of it back then. I believe all I have is one picture which I don't even know where it is. I had the same plasticville structures, postwar Lionel trains, all on a white 4' X 8' board. Your current layout is awesome. Very professional!

You're welcome, Phil. I had a small layout like Sean's when I was a child and it brought back great memories.

Ha, Thanks. Yeah, remember the old sheets of cotton batting to simulate snow. As a kid I always got so exited when it was time to put up the layout (4x12). I had to save up for like 2 years of lawn mower jobs to afford that drawbridge but I thought it was so cool at the time.
My first train set was a Lionel 3 rail tinplate set with a black steam engine. Nickel Plate Road was on the coal tender and caboose. The engine had wheels under the cab. The number configuration was 2-4-2. I had a Republic steel gondola that was green with no load. My flat car was the exact same as in the video and my caboose was dark red lettered for Nickel Plate Road. The train cars had plastic wheel and couplers but the caboose had steel wheels.
I was happy with until a friend of mine showed me his train set that had the operating boxcar with the milkman. I was jealous with him and went on a quest to enlarge my train set.
