We are heading to Scottdale, PA today which is past Pittsburgh coming from the west. Was wondering if there are any O gauge shops in that area??
Thanks, Jeff

I was going to say Bill & Walts. Its at the bottom of my street.
Where is Ace's?
There is also Dick's Train House in Greensburg 724-527-2227
AB Charles in Mt Lebanon has good inventory
Jeff:
Lucky you as you will be in “train shop heaven”!
A few that are worth stopping in were left off the lists provided by others: C.T. McCormick in Zelienople and the Underground Railroad in New Castle which are both definitely worthwhile stops for O gauge and will be closeby if you are coming in the turnpike from Ohio. And then there’s also Niedzalkoski's Train Shop in Jeannette and the Fairchance Pharmacy which is not too far from Scottdale.
Bill
I can highly recommend Imperial Trains. The guys there are the best!
AB Charles IMO is not worth the trip. Not much there any more.
OMG!!! MJRODG3N88 we are kinda neighbors. I'm just down the street from Bill n Walts sorta. And Pine Creek RR where about are you to be going to Bill n Walts?
Rick
Rick,
Im also "just down the street"...up near mcclure middle school/eisenhower rd, if you know where that is
Mike

Mike
Is that in "Pill Hill"?
Bill
Where is Ace's Train Crossing??
RickC,
My home is in Churchill, Pa. I have known Dave, owner of Bill and Walts
sense he purchased the original store on the Blvd Of the Allies in Pittsburgh
in the late 50's. The white Oak store is the down sized version of the much larger
store Dave had from the 50's thru the late 70's. For many years Dave was the only real competition Frank, the owner of the Iron Horse Hobby Shop had.
The competition between these two men was well known in the train world.
Frank was many years older than Dave and has now passed away, Dave is a true business man and has downsized his store as he has become older. Dave's connections at Lionel and MTH goes back to the old store, which took up one side of
the city block, on the Blvd of the Allies in Pittsburgh.
PCRR/Dave
DOC,
I'd like to know the same thing!!
Rick,
Not "Pill Hill" I think that is on the other side of Lincoln. If you're on Lincoln, Bill and Walt's is on the left, at the next red light, I live up to the left
Mike
(sorry for the partial thread hijack)
Gentlemen,
You will need to call Ace's telephone number, and get directions to his place,
his card does not have his work address on it. It's in the City of Pittsburgh some place.
I deal with him at the trains shows, he has a serious train repair shop.
PCRR/Dave
Thanks for the update. That was an interesting store to visit. So now in Uniontown it's even closer to Scottdale for Jeff to visit.
Bill
AB Charles in Mt Lebanon has good inventory
O scale? Since when?
Gee...street addresses and a map would have been useful....who/which shop, now
closed, was east off I-79 on the south side of Pittsburgh, that I used to visit some
years ago on the way to York? It was near Heidelberg but was closed the last time..
some years ago...that I visited it, and think it was always closed Mondays so I missed
getting in a couple of trips....Which ones listed above are close to I-70, I-79, and the PATP on the south side of the city?
I'm not sure about some of the others, but I know that:
- Bill and Walt's is not near 70 or 79, its about 20-25 minutes from the Monroeville
turnpike exit.
- C.T. McCormick (hardware store) is about 35-45 minutes north of Pittsburgh
You have to stop in at Imperial trains in Imperial and C T McCormick.
MJRODG3N88, yes I know where the school is. My wife went there about 40 years ago lol. I was raised in Mckeesport. I am in North Huntingdon now just past White Oak Park.
Pine Creek RR, I've been to both Bill n Walts shops. Although I haven't been to Pittsburgh store for many years. Used to have some very good friends in Churchill.
So many forumites from the Pittsburgh area. We should get together sometime. Maybe do lunch.
Yes, Haler Heights AKA Pill Hill is actually in Mckeesport. They used to call it Pill Hill because that's where all the doctors that worked at Mckeesport Hospital lived. I used to build houses and 1 house I built is located on the hill going up to Pill Hill.
Rick
Pine Creek Railroad,
Not a problem. After thirty years, Peggy and I retired at the end of 2010. Though we no longer have any trains, we sure have a lot of good memories. Also, our phone number is 724-479-2026. You have a wonderful weekend and thanks for mentioning us.
Go see Harry, Gwen, and Beth Ann at Hobby express in Cranberry. Good selection.
Al Bisback,
Where is C. T. McCormick located and what is there telephone number,
I have not been to that particular train store. Are you talking about Larry's trains in Zeilienopple. 724-452-6130.
PCRR/Dave
Here’s a link to CT McCormick’s website. Note their prices are less than MSRP.
Bill
If you are in the town of Zelienople heading north on the main road, it is on the left after a bar called (or used to be called) 3Bs. Maybe up a few buildings. It is actually a hardware store (at least it was when I was in there last), but they have trains too.
Mike
Bill,
You maybe right about it being the Iron Horse, but it was not all that close to I 79.
Frank was a good friend and I was a founding member of his Iron Horse Train Club.
His passing was an end of an era here in the Pittsburgh area.
PCRR/Dave
Frank and a couple of the Iron Horse Train Club members just before his passing
Bill,
Great picture of you and Frank in back of the Club layout,
here is Frank Testing my new MTH P2 263E Repro. He is explaining why
the Gar-Graves switches will not accommodate it, as I snapped the picture.
PCRR/Dave
Rick,
Let me know when you guys want to have breakfast, do you know where
Jody B's is in Forest Hills?

I know where that is. I'd be able to most Saturdays or Sundays
Mike
Whenever I'm in that area I always make the time to go to Brady's in the south end of Greensburg - you won't regret it!
Mike,
Sorry for calling you Rick, mixing the names.
How about this Sunday morning for breakfast at Jody B's at 10:00AM, maybe Rick can make it also, we can talk trains and get to know wach other.
jhz563,
Brady's is definitely on the list, take a gander at my early post for the list.
PCRR/Dave
Bill,
C.T. McCormicks, is Larry's Trains, definitely the same place.

Mike
Hey guys, breakfast sounds good to me. I'll send an email to one of you.
Rick
Rick,
Mike says it has to be later than 10:00 AM, I am open to most any time.
PCRR/Dave
B&G Shoe Repair in Monroeville is a great quick stop for us when we're in town visting my Mother-in Law. Sam the Shoe Man is a GREAT guy and typically has several items from Brady's. Sam is very helpful and will have items ready for us when we're in town for a quick trip. He does a great job with shoes, too.
Mike & Rick,
Looks like 1:30 PM for Brunch at Jody B's in Forest Hills on Sunday will
be fine with everyone. See you there!
If anyone else on the OGR forum would happen to be in the area, please feel free to join us for Brunch, it should be a great time, meeting and talking trains.
DGuill,
I completely forgot about B&G Shoe Repair, Sam the shoe guy is great and loves his trains, definitely a unique place to see.
