Having used aluminum extrusions from the 8020 Company extensively in my business, I decided to use them in building my O gauge tinplate railroad. At first I was concerned that the presence of all that aluminum would interfere with my Lionel Legacy control system. However that turned out to be a non-problem. While non cheap, this has proven to be a very satisfactory construction method. I have added onto it numerous times, simply bolting additional sections to the framework as needed, and completing it with track and scenery.

Definitely a really cool and efficient construction.
That's very cool and makes it easy to construct and add on to. I'm starting a Standard Gauge layout and have to build another platform. What is its cost comparison to say Mianne Benchwork? Where did you get it?
Thanks!
The 8020 HQ is about 20 minutes from me. The things they can do with their products are amazing!
Another OGR'er thinking out of the box! Thanks for sharing!
I had a company discount of about 25%, but retail for everything I bought at the time I bought it would have been around $2K. There are other companies besides 8020 making similar products, possibly at less cost. $2,000 is a hefty sum, but when you think about it there are many Lionel engines that cost more.
