Since sound files can be changed in PS boards what are the other concerns if a PS2-5v board was installed in a steam loco such as a PS1 PRR K4 ? Can the gear ratio and larger wheel diameter be accounted for with new stripes on the motor flywheel ? Contemplating my first DCS swap. j

Once you write the correct sound file it will change the gear ratio to be correct but the name will be terminally written to the board unless you have an MTH certified tech rewrite it. You can change the name in the remote but once you do a factory reset it’ll change back

Truthfully, I'm not sure I'd spend the time to do all the work to retrofit a 5V board into a new locomotive. Their longevity is very suspect, I'd be looking for a 3V board.
