I see the front lever but what is the trick to move it? I am torquing on it and don't want to break it. Don't want to use a tool and scratch it. What is the trick to releasing the boiler? I have the instruction sheet.

Pull the lever on top of the boiler forward and down. The latch is at the back and will lift out of the top of the boiler. You may need to push the boiler front in while doing this.

thanks, I'll try again. Notice he said LED bulbs on the new ones. Mine is a Proto2 so is there a recommended LED bulb replacement in the same housing with built in voltage convertor?
Town and Country Hobbies has direct LED replacements for the common incandescent bulbs used in our trains:
I have seen a few where it is difficult to open the latch due to minor swelling of the cast frames.
