Afternoon all. I'm running MTH tinplate.... 260-E steamer with freight cars on fastback using MTH z-1000 transformer. I want to hookup a tinplate flashing RR post #79. I hooked up the Lionel Accessory Activator Pack following the directions but as soon as I apply power the RR post comes alive, it shouldn't activate until the engine crosses the track. What am I doing wrong..... Thanks

Read the directions VERY carefully and study the pictures, w/ the arrangement of the insulated rail center section and the split-insulated half sections. They can only be assembled one way to work properly, & 3 ways for the activator track to not work at all(like you have described).
