Hi have a 711 switch, which is going to be pretty hard to remove from my layout. Anyways, was wondering if anyone knows how I can fix it once I get it out. I just have it connected to the track the traditional way, with no aux. power to it. It is switching non stop back and forth from the motor. It operates in a flurry! It moves from one switch position to the other and repeat repeat non stop. It does this super quick as if it were some kind of factory machine. It goes at the pace of someone drumming their fingers on a desk. It's hard to see since it's right inside a tunnel portal. I can get it out by un-screwing everything but I don't know what to look for when I do. ANy help is appreciated.

O-22 switches do this also. Are the insulator pins still in the control rails for the automatic derailing safety?
This should be pretty simple to fix - first, remove the controller wires from the switch motor to eliminate external factors.
If it continues, then it would seem both control/trigger rails are connected/shorted to ground - check to see if metallic debris is fouling these areas before tearing out the switch. Let us know how you do!
Thanks for the replies. I ended up having to unscrew a bunch of track to get it out. It was one of the wires from the control rail under the switch. The old coating was brittle and I believe it was touching the metal base.
Steam,
Remember if you need parts most 022 parts are interchangeable with the old 711/072 switches, glad it was just a wire giving you problems! This happens as the switches age, keep an eye on your other switches now.
