Tunnel Liners | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

A question to any member - I have heard some say that using crumpled aluminum foil as a tunnel liner works. Does that interfere with any TMCC signal and/or operations? What are some other suggestions? I've spent a day making some liners from plastercloth. They look great from the inside but they are proving difficult to fit in the allotted space. I am just looking for an alternative that is easier to work with.

I know that this has been discussed before but I couldn't find the thread.

I use pieces of styrene painted black.

I use 15 lb. roofing felt paper. I get my pieces cut then crumble it up and even step on it a few times, then straighten it out and staple it up. Looks good.

On my old layout in Turtle Creek PA I bought embossed brick paper that I bought from Scene Express in Delmont PA and glued to hardboard walls and painted the top flat black Choo Choo Kenny

Black mat board also works well. Easy to cut to size and bendable for curved tunnels. Just a little thinner than foamcore.

I am a fan of foil. Quick, easy, and convincing.

I can't speak to TMCC -- don't use it.
