I know, I know, tycos are toys, but this person really loves this engine.
I need one of the P2 pancake motors, any help out there??

No parts, ut it might be easiest to pick up ajunker or two off ebay for a few bucks.

I'm no expert, but the pic he shows is not the tender drive from that 2-8-0. That one was the same motor used in a number of the diesels and a royal PIT@ to work with. The motor in the OP's pic looks downright user friendly, probably Mantua in origin.
That's not a Tyco PowerTorque motor. Looks like a Bachmann pancake to me. PowerTorques have big exposed gears on the side of them along with a shiny brass(or pot metal) pinion gear.
While that might be true, I recommend what others have said and purchase a similar engine on Ebay scrounge parts from. If this Tyco engine has some special meaning for you (which I assume it does), you can find parts there. A better/cheap option also might be a train show, when dealers seem to be "more reasonable" as to what used Tyco trains are really worth.

Tyco trains were my first HO trains, and as basic as they might have been, to a little boy they were the best. I had the Atlantic Coast Line purple and silver F A and B units, the B&O chromed passenger train, and the 0-4-0 steam switcher, along with an assortment of freight cars. I spent many happy hours of train operation on the living room linoleum floor with Tyco.
I had and remember that beautiful TYCO Atlantic Coast Line purple and silver FA unit pulling a freight set on my living room floor, circa early 1960's.
Compared to my Gilbert Flyer S gauge, the detailing on the TYCO HO was wonderful. The smoothness of the mechanism was very apparent.
