While that might be true, I recommend what others have said and purchase a similar engine on Ebay scrounge parts from. If this Tyco engine has some special meaning for you (which I assume it does), you can find parts there. A better/cheap option also might be a train show, when dealers seem to be "more reasonable" as to what used Tyco trains are really worth.

The best fix for Tyco is the trash can.

Tyco trains were my first HO trains, and as basic as they might have been, to a little boy they were the best. I had the Atlantic Coast Line purple and silver F A and B units, the B&O chromed passenger train, and the 0-4-0 steam switcher, along with an assortment of freight cars. I spent many happy hours of train operation on the living room linoleum floor with Tyco.
