UCS O gauge track section modular wiring ideas

I’m needing to rewire a UCS o gauge track section. I thought it might be a neat experiment to try and go modular wiring as in using plugs - male/female to allow for variable length wire, etc. Has anyone done this or have any thoughts? What I’d really like to do is something wireless, but the UCS controller presents some unique challenges. Thanks.
