Does anyone make an electric uncoupler that can be mounted under the track?

Would really like something that can be truly hidden, mounted under the ties so you can actually ballast over it. I'm using Atlas O track. I know they have an uncoupler track section but really don't want to have a bid round button thingy in the middle of my track. I'm thinking a stronger electromagnet should work but wondering if someone already makes something or maybe even if one of you have built something?

Bill, I didn't make it to the meeting on Monday, but next week.  I've been looking at the coupler issue, and I found out a few things.

I don't think having a coupler that's totally under the table is practical, I used a pretty hefty electromagnet and it didn't budge the couplers.  Even right under the ties with Atlas track, it still didn't do the trick.  Right under the ties did get a strong attraction to the wheels, probably enough to move the train!

Bottom line is this is harder than I first figured it would be.  It might work sitting right under the center rail by removing the tie, I didn't try that yet.  I was drawing 6-7 amps through the magnet and still couldn't budge the coupler right under the plastic ties.

Bill:  Are you speaking of a release magnet for Lionel style couplers or for Kadee style couplers?  The action for the Lionel style is for the magnet to draw down the "plunger" or armature of the coupler therby releasing the coupler jaw. The Kadee style coupler requires a "side motion" for the magnet to swing the uncoupler bar towards the outside of the track.  One type will not operate both designs.

I, frankly, have been waiting for a good Kadee style uncoupler for 3rail track before I convert all my freight cars.  I have about 10 cars that are already converted to Kadee, and you can couple them to Lionel couplers but the operation is a bit eradic.  Once you change over to Kadee style couplers, you will wonder why you didn't do it long ago.
