Haven't been able to find an answer so far, but is there a way to remove the couplers that come with this caboose and install Kadees that doesn't involve using a power tool to cut the coupler off the truck?

Probably not. However, a picture would help.

Do you mean a picture of the trucks?

Yes a picture of the trucks from underneath to see how the couplers are mounted. If the couplers are one piece with the trucks, you must cut em off. I think you know the answer.

I always remove the truck, take it apart and then put it back together..

Here is a caboose i did. I also swapped the hi flange wheels out and tossed on scale wheels. You shouldn’t have to use any tools except a small Phillips head screwdriver and a tweezers to handle the springs.

Sorry it took so long to respond, but here are two photos of one of the trucks. As you can see, the coupler has some ability to swing independently of the coupler.

Which screws did you have to undo?
That is a different truck - return to BigJohn’s post.

I will see if I can get a video for you. That definitely comes apart and the coupler arm can be removed. All trucks come apart. Give me a bit if I can’t find a video I’ll make you one.

Here is a video from YouTube on how to take apart a truck. This isn’t the exact truck on the caboose, but it should give you the basics to do that one.https://youtu.be/6lyqmdUMlco

Thanks for sending the video. Eric did what I tried to do right before I saw your reply...for some reason, even after I removed the 6 screws on the underside of the caboose, the body still didn't want to detach.
