Finally finishing up a model of car #1869 from the 1969 Union Pacific Golden Spike Centennial Expo Train. I don't plan to model the whole train, but I've always liked this display car. Hard to believe the train ran 50 years ago this month. The car was on display in Ogden for the 100th anniversary of the completion of the first transcontinental railroad. Actually, the car is still in Ogden. I like 'themed trains' like the 1947 Freedom Train, the 1947 GM Train of Tomorrow, the 1969 Golden Spike Centennial Limited, the 1975-76 American Freedom Train, the Chessie Steam Special, and so on. They all put on a good show. Fortunately, most of the trains I like are available ready-made in 3R; just not this train. Hope you like the model.
