Hey, punctuation is for sissies.
Is the light gray UP Harbor mist grey? Or is that what you are calling the dark grey?
I once wanted a close color match for a particular item. Took the piece to an auto paint supplies store and they mixed up a near perfect match and put the paint in a pressurized spray can. Maybe that will work as well for you.
thanks, it is the light grey my Nappa auto parts store wants
0 dollars for a spray can o much for me
cant type it is 30 for a spray can and all they do is the auto vin# colors
Warren,
The MyPerfectColor link I gave you indicates $10-$17 for an 11OZ spray can, but get this....They tack on a "Batch Production Fee" of $29.95 for each color you order.
John
wow!!!
From what I read here is you don't like the idea of paying a custom price for custom paint matching work? So time to think outside the box. Take what ever it is you want to match the paint with to any hobby shops (not necessarily trains, but RC planes, cars, crafts, etc.) within a reasonable radius, maybe even a Lowe's or Home Depot. Find a small (under $5 or $6) quantity of the color you want match to. I'll assume you are NOT valuing the costs of your time or traveling expenses (58.5 cents per mile) into the paint costs. Then buy yourself a Preval (about $10 at ACE, TrueValue, etc.). Find a scrap of material similar to what you want to paint and, practice with your newly acquired paint sample before painting your engine. Then paint away! Or maybe custom paint matching/packaging doesn't look so expensive after all? Just my snarky opinion.
