Good Afternoon Everybody,
I have a question concerning the UA F units. I recently acquired a dummy unit in not the best shape, and am thinking about converting to a powered unit. I know that the Marx generic motor has about the same wheelbase as the dummy trucks, but just how similar to Marx were the UA motors?

Contact Steve Eastman, he has converted a pair of these to operating. There may be some older posts on this board relating to those units. He ran them recently at a table top show in California.

Hi, Steve mounted the frame on a Williams chassis. The GP9 should work. When I asked him, he couldn't remeber which engine he used. I have several Williams and the GP is closest. Almost an exact match.

Hmmm.
Certainly a thought. I was thinking of using another mechanism directly inside (Marx is almost dead on for wheel base, but I have some Scout motors here... for better or for worse).
Might need to give that one some consideration.
