My answer to this question is Yes.

Watch this MTH Railking Proto 3 CSX diesel as it passes through the 022 switch:

There is something unique or very unusual about it.

Here is a clue: I think this CSX locomotive is very talented.

I will give you folks a chance to guess what it is, and then tell you later. In the meantime, show us your unique or very unusual train.

Arnold

You are all geniuses, you got it!

So, I was thinking of the various "fixes" you all propose, and then I came up with a better solution.

I decided to accept my CSX as is, and appreciate the fact that it is one talented locomotive: it does the dance known as "the bump." LOL!

When it hits the 022 switch motor casing, or whatever it is called, it gets nudged, but does not derail.

IMO, this unique talent makes my CSX one of the most valuable MTH locomotives ever made. LOL.

Feel free to share what you consider a unique or very unusual model train-related item. Arnold

Arnold, I agree it is a "Very useful engine" in that it can take a hit like that and re-rail itself!!

Here is my unusual train scene.  A Quaker State gas station that takes delivery right from the railroad tank car instead of a tank truck.  Yes, we used to have lots of Quaker State gas stations in Western Pennsylvania, including one about 2 miles from my boyhood home outside Mars.  Pictured on the license plate is the Mars B&O station that now serves as the Mars Historical Society.  Oil City, Pennsylvania was the corporate home of Quaker State until 1996.

Arnold, I too noticed the bump.  But I spotted something very different behind the erector set bridge! The urban backdrop! Nice placement. Had to chime in on this one.

That CSX is a beast!

For those of you who don't know yet, that Erecter Set bridge is one of Leroof's creations that he gifted to me. When I installed it, it stabilized the track and improved the running of my trains over the George Washing Machine Bridge.

Arnold, mentioning it is a 0-22 switch the probability is with the length of the engine the fuel tank is hitting the switch housing. If it can be changed to the other side of the switch that may alleviate the problem or the possibilty the front of the engine may then hit the housing. Maybe another solution would be to change out the switch for a 0-31 switch............Paul 2

Paul2, the Lionel 022 switch curvature is 031.

Arnold, optionally, , you could change out the Lionel 022 for a K line 031 (super snap?)  They don’t have a housing to bump. The switch area on them is flat. They are a perfect replacement for Lionel 022. The only difference is the controller is specific to that k line switch. Your CSX loco will be much happier!
