A friend and I were talking about all the shows coming up soon in the Chicago area.  We were trying to decide which ones to attend and figure out who else was going.

This is not a complete list, but a start.

Hi-Wheelers Annual Show at Harper College in Palatine, IL on March 1 & 2 from 10 to 4 each day.  All scales, operating layouts, and vendors.

NMRA Show in Lena, IL at the high school on March 1 & 2 from 9 to 5 each day.  I think Sunday ends at 4 PM.  All scales, operating layouts, and vendors.

Annual O Gauge Show (2-rail) at Lombard, IL on March 14, 15, & 16.  Layout tours are fantastic!  Vendors of 2-rail but great scenery and scratch building supplies for us 3-railers.

I'm probably going to Lena this year and not Palatine.  Wouldn't miss the O Scales show for anything.

I always enjoyed the Scale 2-Rail Show, particularly the layout tours. It was a fun weekend with good train buddies.

I remember one show when Charlie, Andy and I decided to have dinner on a Friday evening after the layout tours. We went to a local area restaurant that was on the UP/Metra lines. What a fun night, good food, good conversation, and best of all trains frequenting the main lines outside the restaurant.

We used to do that show up until about 8 years ago.  We no longer do and 1-day shows.  Too much work, too little play time.

I think it is great for kids.  I am going this year just for the heck of it.  It is only 1/2 hour from my house.

We used to do the Harper College show as well.  Gave that up because of the hassle during set-up and tear-down.

I guess we are turning into a bunch of grumpy old men.
