I thought you guys might want some news on the DSMR. Nothing like GOOD NEWS.

The DUS Hotel Developer has ran into a HUGE snag, it is official now.

After delay and delay and delay; originally we had to be out of the building by the beginning of September, then it was November now its the end of December and into January 2013. The use of an added 4th floor would require adding dormers to the roof a protected Historic landmark Denver Union Station and the good people at Parks and Recreation, city of Denver, ect has DENIED them the ability to do this dormer addition esentailly making the Hotel project not profitable (according to the developer). The Hotel people say they need the additional space required by adding a fourth floor to make a Hotel profitable; without this its a BUST!

At this point Amtrak is coming home in January 2014 regardless; that means nothing can be stopping passengers from getting into the building and how in God's name are these Hotel people going to build a hotel now in 12 months... I don't think so.

I am sure more lawyers are being summoned as we speak but the Gods have spoken and destroying the recently restored roof is a BIG NO; it is doubtful this Hotel will ever happen. Likely and expected, we are partially ready now the Fire proofing of the floor supports is underway and will likely be done. A minor issue at best compared to loosing a third of the layout to add equipment for a bar? In my opinion that's a long shot.

A little photo op fun with all the roads that came in and out of DUS in the 40's - 50's.

I saw that too.... Not sure what the details are myself. Crawford's lawyers are apparently pretty powerful.  I don't see how they would allow them to destroy the roof but then again money is a big reason. I will certainly let you folks know as more info comes in. They seriously need to get busy ASAP if they plan to finish up the hotel in a year.

Best, SZ
