A fellow forum member has this Lionel N&W J Warhorse item #6-11909 which has a puffer unit. He told me it doesn't smoke at all. He explained to me that he want's a LOT of smoke and wanted to know if I could install a fan driven unit. Well once I received it I ripped out the puffer unit and had to make a lot of changes. I had to eliminate the entire puffer unit and the push bar that drives the puffer unit. I also had to eliminate the cherry switch because it was in the way. Once this was done I made a bracket for the fan driven smoke unit and did the install. The fan driven unit is a 27 ohm unit that I upgraded and changed the resistor from a 27 ohm to an 18 ohm. I also added a diode in the power line so nothing will burn up . The job turned out great as you can see in the video's. The unit runs nice and cool and I'm getting awesome smoke output in conventional mode and even better in TMCC mode. It was a lot of work but well worth it in the end. I had to add a reed switch so I would have a chuff again.
