Upgrading the Atlas Trainman 2009004 Switch Tower Kit

This O scale building kit is a very basic structure that is identified as a Switch Tower. Although the kit is basically a "Snap Together" building it can be modified to improve the overall appearance.

First the base can be improved by adding a "foundation". Next there needs to be an addition of a first floor and a second floor.

Optional extra details include furniture and other equipment that would be visible from the outside. Finally the first floor door could be modified so that it could be displayed as an "open" doorway. Also interior lighting is needed.

Repainting of the structure is also needed. The use of flat colors would be best.

I like the overall proportions of the building and the number of windows. Painting the window framing a contrasting color would do wonders and building a platform by the second story door would enhance the detailing as well. BTW, opening a door so close to the first step to an icy stair case is a scary thought. I may have to research PRR switch towers to see if this fits my theme.

An additional improvement would be a revised second floor platform and railing at the door exiting the building.

IT appears to be similar to "South Tower" in the Altoona, Pa yard.
