This was a nice gift for my latest birthday:
Plus, I am excited to hear that the UP Big Boy will actually be coming through TeXas in November 2019. I don't need a lot of encouragement to make a trip to Alpine, TX to see it come through.

If you like those stamps you should check the USPS philatelic web site. Just got the latest catalog from them and they have a set of pins with the three stamps on them and a "boxed set" of a book on the history of building the railroads, the trains and the story behind the stamps. Also includes a sheet of stamps and six color proof printings of the colors used to print the stamps. About $80 for the package.
And the stamps are still available for order from the philatelic service even though they sold out long ago at local post offices.
Happy birthday Rob and can't beat that birthday present! Managed to catch the Big Boy twice last month and it's worth the trip!
With all that said, when it comes to train stamps, USPS is never gonna top this set IMO…
That was great artwork.
Great stamp sheet! Also, I have to ask when is the Big Boy coming through Texas?
To appreciate the gold embossing on those stamps, you have to see them in person - it really "pops.". They are the most impressive and beautiful stamps I have seen and not just because of the subject.

Here is a link to the web page showing what has been scheduled so far: https://www.up.com/heritage/steam/schedule/index.htm
I saw those advertised when I was at the Post Office this week, but I had to laugh because at the bottom of the poster advertising them was a picture of a British steam train; a little out of place for stamps commemorating the Transcontinental Railroad!
If you're interested in trains on US stamps take a look at the Casey Jones branch of the ATA. They provide listings of the stamps of railroad interest in the US and world wide. I've got most of the US issues, many are in MHO much more attractive than the golden spike issue.

Thanks very much! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, you know how it is with life outside of trains.
I have these stamps hanging on the wall in my train room. A sheet of the Transcontinental Railroad Stamps. Three envelopes with the post mark of May 10. 2019, Union Lake, Michigan. Marking the date of the 150 Anniversary and the package that the stamps were delivered to the post office.

Thanks for the tip, Kevin. I just ordered a couple of sheets from USPS. 👍 I only wish they’d made them for more than five stations. Oh well.
