Last week Thursday, my friend Mark Boyce sold my wife some very awesome scale Weaver Great Northern Passenger cars. The paint scheme is the 1924 to 1947--prior to what most people think of when they think Great Northern--deeper green color only. This is an all aluminum 5 car set--very nice indeed!
I told my wife, Connie, "All you are missing is a SCALE engine." She said: "We'll get one some time."
FORTUNATELY, Mr. Muffins, a.k.a. Steve and Liz Nelson (Forum Sponsors Mr. Muffins Trains and KORBER MODELS) had a MTH Premier 4-8-4 Great Northern Railway in stock! It is going to be a G.R.E.A.T. surprise for Connie tonight. She told me "No flowers or candy." I said: "No problem." :-) I've got this covered along with every anniversary and birthday this whole year!
Three years ago for Valentine's Day, Connie purchased my favorite MTH SCALE big sky blue F45s--powered and dummy...that now pull my big sky blue scale passenger set. Turnabout is fair play. :-)
She is going to be thrilled when she sees this engine!
We are very fortunate that Mr. Muffins is right here in central Indiana. It is the ONLY primarily "O" scale shop within 100 miles. Steve and Liz are true ambassadors/promoters of this hobby and have for years allowed people to operate trains in their store on Saturday. And give us way to many muffins. Those things are too good!
I will post a video later...tonight? Tomorrow? Some time soon...? Mum is the word! Connie isn't on here yet!
Thank you to Steve, Liz and Mark! This will be a Valentine's Day that Connie will never forget! I'll get her dinner too...maybe a rose?
