Good morning all,

I'm having a very odd problem with  this engine, the item number is 6-21298 K-line by Lionel semi scale DC Hudson with LRS and TMCC. I also installed ERR cruise in it about a year ago. The engine has been fine until a few days ago.I use this engine on my 031 line.It will not run in command on that line, but if i put it on any other line I have, it will run perfect in command. If I put any Lionel or MTH engine on the 031 line they will also run perfect in command. When the Hudson is on the 031 line and I apply power it will start right up like it's in conventional mode, if I put it on any other line is won't start up in conventional it ready to run in command. I use DCS and Legacy. This has to be the oddest problem I ever came across. Anyone have any idea's

Thanks, Alex

Hi everyone,

Well I tried resetting the engine I also checked the antenna wires. Everything inside looks good and Ben this engine does use the hand rails for the antenna they look good also.. As soon as I put the engine on the 031 loop it starts up in conventional mode. If I put it on any other line it will run in command with no problems. I also tried two more engines on the 031 and they run in command with no problem.  I'm totally lost?????

Thanks everyone, Alex

Hi Alex. This may be another one of my weird off-the-wall ideas, but is it possible that your O-31 track is no longer connected to the command signal?  I know that some more sensitive locomotives can function in close proximity to a track that has the command signal, so your other locomotives might be sensitive enough to do so, whereas your Hudson is perhaps less sensitive. If a wire has become disconnected to the track, it could explain how this problem appeared suddenly, and is limited to that one track.

Thanks for your reply, But I also tried connecting the Legacy right to the 031 loop and the engine still did the exact same thing.

Thanks,Alex

Hi Alex,

I'm hanging in there, and trying to prove the doctors wrong.

Sorry that my idea was no help. But another thought sprang to mind. Is it possible that you have a somehow managed to ground that track loop to earth? That could kill the Legacy signal on that loop, and my original thought could then still apply.

Well guys and gals I tried everything suggested above and same story, If I put it on the 031 line it's starts up in conventional. If I put it on any other line it runs fine. If I put any other engine on the 031 line they all run fine, whether they are MTH or Lionel.

It must be something with the engine itself.

I just want to thank all of you for your help, I took the engine off the track and put it on the storage shelf for now.

Ben that was hysterical. LOL

Thanks again everyone, Alex

According to what's been described with this engine, and in my expert opinion, is that the armature sprocket is causing interference which in turn causes the combustion line to interfere with the flow in the dynaflow! Which only effects the K-Line on the 31 loop.

Maybe try it with Cornflakes instead of oatmeal.

Now my real expert opinion.....I have no clue.

I see it's Honeymooner night at OGR.
