I messaged the Eastern Division a few minutes ago;

I just saw the York Expo's cancellation of all event until May. These two events are important to the hobby why not add two Facebook pages one for Dealers/Manufacturers and one for Members call Virtual York. Dealers can list their inventory at special York Prices. Manufacturers can make announcement. Members can list and show pictures of their trains on their virtual tables.

Easter Division Reply:
Great idea would you be willing to head up the development of those Facebook pages?

My wife would be impossible to live with if I undertook this project. I would be willing to help. Is there anyone out there who would be comfortable doing this?

I would imagine the dealers will use their social media pages and websites as well as this forum to announce their "York Sales" so there is really no need for a virtual York.  Most members will rely on this forum as well as other outlets to sell their trains.  Seems like a whole lot of work to make it a York.  The manufacturers have a proven method of announcing new things via social media.  It the big picture, York just isn't that important right now given the multitude of other things I need to worry about including disposable income.

Ok guys get real,York will not go on this spring and having a virtual York is a giant waste of time and resources. Forget ebay because prices are already too high and now give them chance to raise them more, no thanks. Just check out your favorite dealer.

Trains are the least of our worries. Have fun stay safe and see ya in October

And don't forget on eBay you have to pay sales tax now too. Train shows are looking better and better!

AND the buy/sell on this forum is FREE!!!

While a Virtual York is a novel idea, and even though there is a lot of comradery in our web forum it'll never be even close to the same. York is more than just buying and selling.

I recently bought the last piece of Postwar O gauge Lionel that I still had on my wish list. My Standard gauge display and Christmas layout can't handle any more, same with my new Gilbert AF display and layout. This York was to be for catching up with old and new friends and learning about trains I don't have (such as old wind-ups, European trains, etc.) by chatting with dealers. Dinners with a dozen guys and evening drinks and Show & Tells afterwards in the hotel.

As is being reinforced at this trying time, hard to beat face to face contact.

Depending upon the health situation, River City 3 Railers is considering a members only event 04/24-26. There is a lot of work to be done on all of our layouts. We'll get one or more setup and running. Do a member-to-member swap meet.

We can post pictures and videos of the event. Certainly nothing close to York, but an opportunity for a new experience for the OGR Forum. Steaming video? Maybe. Other clubs may wish to do the same.

As Alan alluded to ITS FREE here on the forum with over 10,000 subscribers.

There is already a Facebook market place also FREE  Just search Lionel and there is a buy/sell group you need to join.  Also search MTH and there are two groups for buy / sell, one includes Williams and other brands. The Lionel Groups has 6300 subscribers and the MTH groups are also well populated.  Once you joiin the face book groups you get facebook notices(not e-mails) of new items posted.

I've had luck selling on all the sites.  Give them a try. Or just visit your Hobby supplier and buy NEW.

To Alan Arnold, THANK YOU for keeping this forum going and all the OGR family does for the O-Gauge segment of our wonderful hobby

Stay well
