I have the Weaver C-1 0-8-0 in the Masonic version (diecast; QSI). It came cheap on eBay, so of course it doesn't work. Is there a way to simply gut the electronics and install a conventional reverse unit? Are there people who do such work (I have zero understanding of boards etc.).

It would bother me not at all if the lights weren't constant or directional or if there was no smoke. I don't want to experiment and find out the motor runs on some purified version of DC after the current runs through the board . . .

Since I have to look for most of my motive power on the bidding site, I have learned not to expect an operating loco from a private sale. But this one I'd like to resurrect.

Late issue, Weaver (diecast) 2-8-0 was from the K-Line bankruptcy.  Weaver's stamp printing system allowed for offering in many Road Names.   Grand Canyon 29 pictured.  Though the 1:1 29 is Alco,  model is Baldwin, There was a lot of discussion about this 30+ years ago.

There was also a (Masonic) Pennsy 0-8-0, diecast, (Top picture).

LP was three rail.  L two rail.  ???  I could be wrong and often.  Mike CT.

One of my favorite Pennsy steam loco was a small 0-4-0.  IMG_6709_zpskcvhxbky[1]
