If anyone has these, how do you like them? Are they really O42? They sure do look good to me but I want to be able to run them. Thanks in advance.

With the underframe plumbing, yes, they're at least O42. They're nice cars, very hefty. They look much better with painted interiors (they come molded tan).
Love to get a hold of one of these. Anyone have a source?
They've been run a few times before. I think there's 16 numbers of sleeper, 4 kitchens and 4 hospital kitchen cars. I dont know how many guard cars they made, the MOW and express car versions are still somewhat plentiful and cheap, but the WWII cars are hard to come by. Weaver will run the cars when they get the numbers where they want them, so I'd suggest just ordering the new ones.
They pop up on ebay in clumps from time to time, and usually go for far over MSRP.
They are in the current Weaver Catalog and on the website, I already told my LHS to get me some.
I have two of these cars. The boxes are marked O42 for three rail (36-inch radius for two rail). So far I have only run them on O72. Not much help beyond that.

Great cars! I run them in a 40 car military train along with a number of flat cars with military vehicles. I also toss in a couple of 18" Pullmans marked: U.S. Army so that my model officers have a quality place to sleep. But those troop sleepers look so nice! The small upper windows sparkle light through them and add to the charm of the whole train. Make sure you pre-order them from Weaver or your LHS.

These are very well done cars. The only problem I have is that they don't come with instructions for disassembly. I'd like to put some figures in them. It's probably intuitive to disassemble them, but no instructions seem "unprofessional".

Alan: While I don't specifically remember how they come apart, I do recall taking all 12 of my cars apart and placing "people" in them. I believe that there are just four screws on the bottom of the car that separate the shell from the floor. Not just people but I was able to pick up some K-Line military figures in packs of six or eight dress uniformed men. I used one pack in each car and they can be seen easily through the windows when the lights are on. Not sure if these packs are still around but they sure do look perfect for the period, WWII, when those cars were used.
Those cars, incidentally, were responsible for a number of veterans to swear that they would never ride trains, again! If you notice the trucks on the cars; they are different than any other style of truck and they were a complete failure of design. They made those cars, which were modified freight car designs, ride rougher than the freight cars they were supposed to have improved on. Still they are an interesting part of history and I'm glad that someone took the trouble to make models of them.

Alan, the War Time ARMY would not bother with camo curtains, plain cloth as provided in standard cars is my bet.
so find a picture and put in the cover which was probably on a spring winding roller above the window.

Hey Russell,
Camo curtains was an attempt at humor.

Thanks You for the data and especially the picture Rattler.
Most informative.
The usual consist was one kitchen car for every five Troop sleepers. Weaver's are models of early cars. Because of structural problems, later cars had the step wells replaced with stirrups
Many never saw troop train service. by the time the order was completed the war was over.
