Just won these on eBay. I plan on using them as "filler" in my N&W coal drag which is primarily the good Atlas O fish belly hoppers. They seem to be the only other non-brass O scale N&W hoppers with correct steam-era markings and peaked ends. A while back another forum member discussed them with me and swore by them, but I've since lost the emails. How do other N&W modelers here feel about them?

Hi I have bought about 50 of the weaver RDG & PRR hoppers mix. found that I had to add weight to all the cars to keep them from derailing. outher hopers I have were hever and would pull them off on some curves. I run  083 & 072. atlas track.

After I weighted them thy have been great. It is neet to see 70 cars go buy.

PC9850:  Looks like you got a good deal. I like the 2 bay Atlas hoppers (PRR) but have not compared them to Weaver hoppers.  I have one Weaver box car with plastic trucks and when I placed it in the middle of a train of 12 or 14 cars, it might derail once in a while on an 072 curve and definitley on an 036 curve into a stub yard.  I found that placing it at the end of a train reduced that.  Are the trucks on your hoppers plastic or die cast? Extra weight as previously noted by hah3 would also help. How many hoppers do you have in your coal train?

hah3:  70 hoppers!!  What loco(s) do you use for that train?

They have peaked ends that have a notch on all four corners which is unlike any I've seen on the N&W. The length of the car and spacing of the 2 bays is way off for any class I know of. Get your friend to tell you what class car these match and I can tell you for sure.  The class those models are marked for is incorrect. Maybe they are something from another railroad after the mergers.
