Welcome to this week's WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!

In the basement of the Virginia Museum of Transportation there is a large area set aside for model railroad clubs. Several days a year these clubs have an open house. Last Saturday was one of those days.

Happy Friday everyone. Here are some shots with work in progress.

Should be working on the scenery but its track and wiring time... seems I've been running trains and not working on the layout

Plus the weather has be very nice for November here in Michigan! So I have been spending more  time with the kids outside!

Paul, You have a gift for crafting foliage. Those two shots look wonderfully realistic. (I'm guessing you have used some Scenic Express products there to make those trees and lower foliage, right?)

Looking forward to everyone's great photos, good start so far.

I finished decorations on my Santa train inspired by the Lionel and Hallmark train designs.

Ready for the holidays.

Screwed in a couple of tea lights to the caboose switch underneath offers a nice yellow flickering effect.

Train will be used for our Lionel Christmas village display at our railway museum with our Polar Express train event. 4 weekends this year.

2 weeks of work setting up the hundreds of figures, many loops of track and buildings etc.

Handsome engine, for sure, and I especially enjoy that you were careful to craft a narrow area of soil between the ballast and the hedges; also, on the opposite side of the RR tracks, such a nice eye for details.

.....and so it begins......the 2015-16 Christmas display season......tonight, the Great Big Greenhouse's "Ladies Night Out" which is the pre-Thanksgiving Christmas item sale.

This is our 11X6 small layout that can fit in the back of an SUV and run by 2 or 3 members.......perfect for small venues and easy set ups....

Thank you Guys.   Yes, I use Scenic Express Super Trees but I don't follow the directions, it's the rebel in me I guess.  I use hair spray, ground foam and foliage flakes and I don't soak and straighten any of them, nothing is perfect which I think gives it a more natural look.

I always enjoy seeing pics of your layout. I had a question on your supports for the rust colored girder bridges? You have a train below going thru them, and then appear to be made out of wood. How did you attach these to your table?

Thanks,

Thanks Joe.

Yes, they are made out of wood. I basically held the support where I wanted it to go. Then pushed it back slightly and drilled a small pilot hole through the layout table. I then ran a screw up from under the table into each leg of the support. I recommend drilling small holes in the bottom of the supports to help avoid splitting the wood.

My scale Polar Railroad consist made it's debut tonight at the Great Big Greenhouse..

It was very well received. I was a little concerned that I was over working this little locomotive. It looked like the wheels might be slipping. In fact, it was pulling 0.2 amps and after 3 hours of run time the locomotive was cold when I took it off the track to put it away for the evening.

This was taken on Sunday on a trip to Sand Patch.

And lastly a video of the M1 on the PFE train.

What club is that? Is it a private layout?
