Well, tomorrow I find myself back on the road to PA & NJ for 2 weeks, so there goes the any layout work! I was able to get all the cork roadbed laid down this week though.
I'm all set to ballast when I return. Was also able to hook up most of the signals & the crossing flashers.

Some yard power at the fuel racks -

light power running past the station on main 2

Picked up this new SD80MAC -

The N&W Heritage ES44AC on the point of a freight -

Had an incident w/ my operating gantry crane , so I replaced it w/ a shed from Menards. I think I actually like it better there than the crane. A little bit of custom signage & BAM - Altoona Pipe & Steel!

Lorenzo was all about trains this Halloween -

Amtrak 07T hustles it's consist of Amfleet cars westbound through Mexico, PA - 10/10/15

NS SD70ACe 1142 in on the point of 21T as it heads westbound at Mexico, PA -

NS SD70ACe 1010 splits the Pennsy signals at PITL MP 131 as it leads eastbound 66W out of the early morning fog - Newport, PA - 10/11/15

With the light fading fast, we were able to beat 10N to Johnstown & catch NS 1700 coming into CP C for a set of rear helpers - 10/18/15

I think I said a while back that I would let you guys know why I decided to take down the postwar layout in the spare room & spend all this time finishing out the garage & building a new layout. Well this is why

Christopher:

Congratulations on your very fun news.  Here's my experience with going from 2-3 children:

  • Going from 0-1 children: There's nothing else is like it. Your universe is permanently changed.
  • Going from 1-2 children: Ok, we got this.  We can do this.  This is good.
  • Going from 2-3 children: This is where you and your wife go from "man-on-man" to "zone". At this point, you don't have them, they have you.  You get a little overconfident at the 1-2 step and don't realize that 2-3 is almost as big a change as 0-1.  You're a dead man walking.
  • Going from 3-4 children: Like falling off a log.  Easy-peasy.

I am told that going from 4-5 children is like stepping on the third rail and is the very definition of insanity.  I will never know.

Congratulations again.  Enjoy them, enjoy them, enjoy them.

I like this. Looks like someone used the old caboose for target practice. My only suggestion is you make them a better marksman. Why not a cluster around the "0" in 5001

Because target practice at a caboose is normally performed while liquored-up.

Thanks guys.

Perhaps viewing it from 2” away isn’t the best choice.

Unfortunately with this application you have to over compensate the markings and holes in order to see them from a normal viewing distance.

I have tried in the past to just use a black marker for holes and rust spots but they tend to fade away on the final result.

The customer in Mass. didn’t request graffiti, but it could have used some as I think about it now.

Christopher,

Everyone there is in for some spectacular changes

Congratulations to all of you, and hoping you receive a healthy tie breaker!

Can't help but be excited for the National Capital Tracker's show at the Rockville Senior Center next weekend. This is a fundraiser show of all DC area modular clubs to help the Rockville Lions Club. See the flyer below and please come out if you are in the area - nothing to buy but lots of layouts to see and a fun show and support a good cause. Also, here are some photos from years past. This is my FAVORITE show of the year!
