It's time for WEEKEND PHOTO FUN!!!

Some of you are aware that this Saturday is National Lionel Day.

In previous years this event has been held outside under a tent. This year Lionel has set-up inside in a room inside their building. They were still working on it yesterday when I took these pictures.

Santa will be set up seeing children in front of the fireplace until 2:00 Saturday. This looks to be a great event Saturday. I  have to be at the Virginia Museum of Transportation Saturday for their Candy Cane Express Event. So I hope to see more pictures from Lionel Train Day from forum members who get to attend.

Last Friday I took these pictures at the VMT.

Some photos from my set up at your Polar Express event at our railway museum. We are running 4 weekends. My layout is in the "North Pole" Buildings the people come into after the train ride. About 28x18 foot space. These are a little bright with the flash, the real scene is a bit darker with the building lights showing up, and the stars in the sky backdrop fade in and out, flickering.  9 of the trains  have the Lion Chief controllers on the fence + some other buttons for sounds and animations.

Note the contraption that I hang from the ceiling to make Santa and the planes that are hanging down fly.

I will start off with a short video......this past weekend at the Science Museum of Virginia train show, I wanted to pull a train with MU'd Conrail and Penn Central E-33s.  Well, it didn't work out ( the DCS remotes were 5.0 and the TIU was 6.0).

A TMCC New York Central Hudson was emergently pressed into service, pulling a train it never did previously!

Well with my track clean it was time to let some trains start rolling!

I got all 4 trains up and running for the first time in years. A Lionel N&W #606 J class (TMCC) hauling the Pocahontas and the Nickel Plate #765 (Legacy) doing the honors on the lower level, with a Postwar N&W Baby J #746 and Milwaukee Road EP5 #2351 on the upper level.

The Milwaukee Road 2351 is one of my father's engines he bought way back in 1957 - one of 3 locomotives we still have from his childhood and cherish to this day.

As usual my little helper was busy exploring the newly opened up layout. She loves to poke in an out of the tunnels but got scared once the trains start running.

imageAlso a couple of entries for the FEF:

And a new arrival that I am very happy to have - it's a custom TCA car and as far as I know the only Wawa product made in O gauge.

Cool seeing a steam pull the juice train.Yes the real rail roads did this as well.I read in books where if an locomotive was having trouble. The rail road would send a locomotive to ether help or take over and pull the train.

kj356 this sounds like a great event.  Say, is this device available from ACME products?

Thanks for the images everyone, always love to see this thread appear!

I had an all-day op session even I had in October. The first group of guys shot video and just got it edited:

Note, the back half of the video is just black, so once the screen goes dark, you’re done (no idea why they kept running like that). This was my first group of the day and I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

awesome layout and scenery Lee !!   great video !  nice to watch....

Thanks! They were the first group that day, and I think they had a great time (and I didn't have nearly the issues with derailments that I had with the next group after them).

From Christopher's post:

I'm always pleasantly surprised (though I shouldn't be by now) of how very nice much of the Lionel Postwar stuff looks in realistic-type good setting. The above engines and the car trailing fit together well and make a nicely proportioned and great looking train! And who wouldn't like that classy Erie scheme on those FA's???

Andre

All of Christopher's work is inspiring....He and a number of others work helps keep my drive going.  Thanks
