Duotone Effects • My ride back to the Man Cave • CSX Locomotive 62 • Most of the Plymouth Yard Roundhouse has been torn down, but there are still some cool things remaining, like these doors filled in with bricks • If you walk the site you can fine piles of bricks from the old roundhouse.
Family Lunch Trackside • December 21, 2018. This restaurant is trackside and when a locomotive goes by, the bartender rings the bell. There is an operating Lionel Train, Shelf Layout and all kinds of Lionel & Railroad memorabilia. This is where I like to go when I am out rail-fanning. French onion soup & a burger. If you are ever in Southeastern Michigan, I would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner. To see their menu and location, Click here.
I photograph for the fun of rail-fanning & the joy of photography.

" rubbing is racing "
Next up, from Houston, TX. Wade O'Reilly has been racing since he could walk. Whether it be bikes, go karts, boats, and everything in between. He as always been fast, especially since he entered the ARCA Racing Series in 2014. Racking up 4 wins and 18 top 10s in that span, he has attracted BNSF Railway as sponsor, following him to the new Kubota Truck Series. Expect O'Reilly to be a strong competitor in 2016.

Coleman Racing unveils John Gamboa's schemes for 2018.
After months of silence from the Coleman Racing team, all four of the paint schemes that will be used throughout the upcoming season by John Gamboa have been unveiled in a press conference held earlier today. When asked what took so long to unveil announce any details for the 2018 season, John Gamboa said the following:
"Part of the reason for the long wait was trying to find a new number to use after giving up the #21 for Jeremy (Zumwalt) since he personally asked to use that number again. I was and still am more than happy to do that, but at the end of the day I still needed to find a new number to use. After looking through what numbers were still available, I decided to use the #66 as a bit of a tribute to my mom, who's been there for all of my life and I really feel like I wouldn't be able to do a lot in my life, let alone my racing career without her support. So I felt like paying homage to her was something I can do at the very least.
Anyways, the other reason for the wait is just negotiating with my sponsors and making sure they were coming back for the year. Betty Crocker left after the 2017 season to reevaluate their business ventures in terms of their marketing, and even though Cooper Bussmann and BNSF Railway renewed their sponsorship deals; I was still looking to be unsponsored for two races until Auto Value/Bumper To Bumper signed on a few days ago to fill in those remaining races. So now I'm just waiting in anticipation for this season to start and go back to what I love to do for a living."
BNSF Railway has renewed their sponsorship for 11 races; two of those races [California and Dodge Speedway] will have the "Warbonnet" throwback scheme be used. (The Warbonnet livery is based of fthe trains that Atchison, Topeka and Sante Fe Railway used off and on from the late 1930s until they were merged with Burlington Northern Railroad on December 31, 1996.) Cooper Bussmann (re-branded by Cooper Industries) will be on the #66 for three races and Auto Value/Bumper To Bumper Auto Parts Stores has signed on for the two races at Coca-Cola Superspeedway and Indianpolis Racing Park.

Upgrading a Genesis To full ERR , second photo is the upgrades that stand behind it. I won’t pick my head up from the workbench until the spring, but that’s a good thing. Lol 😂
I know, I know posted these images on Christmas day.
But did not have time to hammer out the significance of this 2014 White House Christmas ornament.
It was honoring President Warren G. Harding. In June 1923 in his third year Harding wanted to get out of DC and tour the US to the West on a sightseeing and speaking tour. His car was an observation car named the Superb. The Superb had speakers mount so he could speak to the people along the way.
In July he was the first President to travel the Alaska Railroad while in the cab of number 618 with his wife. After some instruction from the engineer he sat at the controls for 51-minutes (26-miles north.)
Harding fell ill on voyage from Alaska to San Francisco. He soon died from a stroke. His casket was placed on a high bier in the Superb for the trip back to DC. So his tour train and car became his funeral train. His casket was placed in state in the East Room of the White House.

Here are some photos of the town of Port Royal which is now about 85% complete. I'm building it on 2 inch thick pink foam board in the workshop. Since I'm having some people over this evening to see the layout., I thought I'd drop the module on the layout to display it. Still needs to have the streets weathered, utility poles and street lights installed, and lots of details such as highway signs, manhole covers, weathered vehicles, and of course, citizens. The Route 75 arch bridge in the foreground is just a foam board mockup used for fitting everything together. The final model has yet to be built.
Happy New Year!

Neal,
This scene is coming along. Already see much detail in the project so I know once you do the finishing touches it will be amazing. Thanks for showing us your progress.

Continuing with some PW Sets that I've put together one car at a time here's the Lionel 2275w set from the mid-50s led by the Wabash GP7. A fun and colorful set.
Thought I would post a "Best Of 2018" of photos I've posted this past year. These are some of my own favorites.

Family fun on Roaring Camp’s Holiday Lights train in Santa Cruz, CA. The snow isn’t real, but Santa is!
I dressed up this little Woodland Scenic building over the weekend. I added interior and exterior lighting and added a platform with detail parts.
I also made it out to check on the Casey Jones Hi Railers Layout. My new found political life that started back in August with a campaign for a seat on our city board of commissioners and a victory in November has severely reduced my model railroad time 😕. The guys have been working hard on the trestle bridge. We still need to build a permanent girder bridge in the center span and start the scenery work.
Here are a couple of picture.
Thanks for looking at the pictures and HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!
Thanks !
Richard
