More New Haven as I rotate all my engines through the layout....
The passenger train has switched from a DL109-110 to a RailKing ABA F3 in McGinnis colors.
The Freight has switched from a Premier ABA Alco freight unit to a single Alco C420.....an original run from Lionel, circa 2002-03
Nothing beats New Haven black, white and orange!

I usually post images from the 1930's-1950's areas of my layout when the PRR was still around. But today I'm posting some Conrail photos from the western end of my model railroad that looks like the former Middle division in the Conrail area. Here are two images showing MP 182.2 (near Ryde PA and west of Mattawana). By now, Conrail had removed some of the classic PRR signal bridges and replaced them with bidirectional double headed signals. They often mounted these signals in corrugated steel caissons as seen in the image. The number of tracks was reduced from three (post 1957) to just two and CTC had been installed. The formerly ratty right of way was now meticulously maintained. The line poles are still in place, but won't be there much longer.
There is also a prototype photo of one of these double headed signals along with the adjacent instrument case.
I was railfanning quite a bit in those days, and remember being stunned at how clean Conrail kept their engines compared to the filthy Penn Central units I was used to from the mid 1970's. While Conrail may not have been loved as was the Pennsy, unlike Penn Central, it certainly was respected for how it saved the railroad.

Thank you Neal. If you missed my previous posts regarding # 546, it was my initial project but was faced with numerous problems. It became a "dress rehearsal" for #564 which turned out much better.
I have always kept a close eye on your modelling efforts as you do great work. One of the earliest comments I ever made regarding your layout was the perfect roadbed and track profile complete with pole line. Photos of your mainline do not require a train in the composition to look outstanding.

Great photos all. I didn't manage to take any myself this weekend, sort of not feeling all to well(headache later Saturday and felt sleepy), but I did manage to get out to my LTS. What was also great about that is my friend and co-worker Bob tagged along to put in his order(finally) for two starter sets. While I was talking he wondered around the store for a bit. When it was almost time to leave I found him near the entrance looking up at some Thomas stuff. He said that he thought it might be a good idea to pick up one of those sets for his stepson. So, the train bug is firmly planted in him I guess, but he has always had it.

I have a soft spot for the Omaha Road, which I rode from Omaha to Minneapolis in 1954, as my Uncle George lived at Sibley, Iowa. I never did see the Omaha Erie-Builts, but I knew about them and they have always interested me.

Welcome. They were made in 2003. Really cool that you rode on Omaha Road! C&NW (Omaha) owned only 4 of them.
