Distant Signal's production of Circus Train: Last Run to Tampa

Great video. Nicely done. I live on Long Island and plan on watching the train in May. Its an annual event around here. You only had one grade crossing, when the train gets to its destination, it crosses 6 grade crossings. They are all within about a mile and a half of each other so traffic in town comes to a halt for a couple of hours. They have to break up the train here too so it fits on the sidings near Nassau Coliseum.

There were quite a few SW models from EMD Electromotive Divison of General Motors.  SW1  SW7 and SW9 were very popular with the railroads. Similar to the NW2, most likely more horse power.

Originally, at least, SWs had LESS power:  "S"  = Six Hundred HP and "N" = Nine Hundred HP.  "W," by the way, stood for Welded Frame while "C" stood for Cast Frame.

Great shots as always. How'd you get the chalk markings done? I tried with a white artist pencil but they just don't look like yours turned out...

You didn't ask me....but my way.......I use old typewriter correction paper. Not sure you can still buy it even......I have not looked as a small package is a life time supply.  The Killroy and 'KC' are done this way.

Wednesday the 1st was the club business meeting. It was also Nicholas' (another apprentice) birthday. Mine was Friday, the 3rd. We were surprised by a cake -- train themed, of course.

On another note, progress is being made on the On30 logging area. The upper waterfall structure is shaping up nicely.

Lastly, with the loss of a couple of friends over the past few weeks, I remembered this photo I took at a train show last month that gave me pause.

Daylight...thanks for the compliment.

We moved the layout from the main part of our basement to two rooms in the back of the basement.

We expanded from two tracks on one level that was 10 x 12 in the original spot to a 13 x 11 room and a 12 x 14 room with 3 holes in the wall/tunnels connecting the rooms.   My guess is that it's about 24 x 14ish on two levels with 3 tracks.   Upper level is a modified dogbone with 036 reverse loops, lower level has an inside loop with 048/060 radius, outer loop is 060/072 and runs through both rooms.

We got everything put together right before Christmas but still have lots of scenery, track leveling, bridge supporting, and other projects to do.  Also considering adding a large 072 around the perimeter of the larger room to run larger locos/passenger cars/freight that might be too big to squeeze through our bustling holiday village.   Right now my son and I are just having fun running trains!train layout 2016train layout 2016 4train layout 2016 2train layout 2016 3

Here are a couple of pics I took this afternoon, sorry for the harsh lighting.

Needs a little work! DonDSC_0352

When I was employed as an engineer at the Carowinds park on the NC & SC stae line the owner had collected a number of D&RGW 3 foot cars to use as 'set dressing'. When park owner Pat Hall passed and the park was sold the new owner removed all the train items. I have tracked down 'my' locomotives but I have never found out if the stock car, box and reefer were sold or junked......is there any registry of old rolling stock. Thx

The A with my Military Train, I eventually will do a recreation of the 1 minute video of the real one blowing on stop grade crossing whistles out of Manasas Virgina soon.

Really nice video and a terrific train!

Noticed the whistle steam - you say this is an 'A' class? Is it a JDS Ltd conversion perchance?
