WEEKEND PHOTO FUN 4-8-16-??

Here are some new ROW photos...I finally painted up those tie plates I purchased from Monster Model Works and scattered them about the right of way. The B&W images are from back in the late 1920's near the Enola Yard throat.  A track crew is dong some maintenance work. Look to the left of the oil drum and you will see a bunch of tie plates scattered about.

The color shots are from the 1970's...see the Olds 442 bumping over the rural grade crossing less than a mile west of Granville?  Look carefully at the close up image and you will see a few piles of tie plates along with a stack of brand new ties awaiting installation.  My son wants to add a bucket of spikes as well.

And finally, there is a prototype photo showing the real road.

My latest creation for METCA.  These will be in before the end of the year.

This week I added 2 MTH Scale GG1s to my roster that I bought used on the forum. So, this week I will post pictures of my 4 MTH Scale GG1s taken at my train club this week. The two new additions are the two on the right.

At a recent train club meeting a member showed the CZ Atlas passenger car he took apart and rebuilt modified and painted to a Canadian Pacific Park car. Here displayed with old technology from many many years past, the Budd extrusion custom cut and windows milled out, Mac Shops Brass dome kit and Tomar VIA sign on the tail end for the VIA park car. Sure is nice to see the Atlas detailed passenger cars,  but the old technology produced a pretty decent job of the overall shape of the passenger cars, need to add a few more details to this VIA set but have seen these old cars completed with great detail.

And some young rail fans, the grand daughter enjoys running Thomas and his friends in the house with the Lion Chief remotes.

Looking forward to all the photos this week, nice GG1 fleet, that would look good run as a lashup of all 4 engines together.

Still able to spot my favorite boxcar scheme from the late 1970's in 2016. The highlight of my evening walk yesterday!

Here's some York Fall '15 photo memories. Wish that I could be there next week. But, I'll be vacationing in sunny southwest Florida. Already made my hotel reservation for October.

Real trains have makeshift repairs, scars and weathering.  Your equipment is going "prototype", consult with the gurus on how to transform this "damage" into "enhancements"!  I'm sure SIRT & Co. can help you turn this around.

I'm enjoying the last few weekends before the baby comes & trying to wrap up a lot of work on the layout

I was able to finish all the scenery on the lower level this week, so except for a few yet to be placed trees, the layout has that finished look. I still have to do accessory wiring.

I don't mess with steam. I would fill the diesel cab gash with Elmer's white glue and re-paint it. Might take a few applications until its even.

A 2015 Christmas layout memory

I had a more substantial winter planned before I redesigned the layout to allow for a tribute to my recently deceased sister.  This is all of the room that was left for winter.

Ok, so I'm not up to par in the scenery yet but its getting there.  Painted some base coat on the mountains and doing highlights soon I hope!  But here's a preview of the progress.

Plus I got my hands on two European tank cars from a "going out of business" sale.

That's one of my favorite pictures.

Pat, I am with you on the GG-1.  They are the best.  I am lucky to be able to state I rode behind them many times.  The football photo is great.  When you are on the Acela heading towards Philly, you can still pick out where that location is.

ok ,I know its not "prototypical " but I sure think it nice,,,,kinda blue gooseish  I had the loco for about a year,then just got the cars yesterday

As we approach York, how's about York through the ages.....I have been going since 83 (missed only twice), but have only brought my camera the last 10 years or so....

The 1st Forum Meeting picture fall 200), I think.

Here are some ones in the years that followed.

Then 2008, I believe.

April 2009.....my 1st and only taste of scrapple.....

That's one of my favorite pictures.

Great painting by Grif Teller.  GG1 were parked right next to JFK stadium.  One of my former patients (he worked for the PRR) gave me a PRR book with famous illustrations by Teller - this painting was included in the book.   I think I remember him telling me the PRR laid temporary tracks by JFK stadium for the Army Navy game.  Of course, in 1955, it was Memorial Stadium.

Added pizza signage to the Downtown Deco build.  It is taken from a pizza place in NE Philly.  I added  a few other things as well to the build, will take pics Sat or Sunday
