I haven't been running trains as much as I have wanted. Last weekend I spent my weekend volunteering with the "J" excursions.
This Saturday is the Roanoke Railfest at the VMT. I will be running trains on the VMT layout and the museum will allow you to visit in the cab of the "J" and blow the whistle (there is an additional fee for that)

A heavy duty flatcar has derailed and everything has come to a screeching halt. The super is not happy and has called out the big hook to get things moving again. The crew now hard at work re-railing all those trucks.

Two new Lionel CR SD40's. Love the details, sounds and also noticed how bright the headlight is. It lights up the track just like the real engine.

I have to ask, what camera and lens settings and then post processing do you do on your photos to get the rich colors?
Haven't posted for a few weeks...here's a project I just finished. This is a Weaver 40' flat that came with a yucky orangish-brown wooden deck. I masked it off and repainted it to look like real weathered wood planking. The rest of the car was weathered as well. Not quite sure if its up to the work done by SIRT, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. May still get stakes and a load, but wanted to get this posted quickly due to my absence. And yes Steven, this is a prime candidate for Kadees which would also serve to drop the car.

While running trains at the Austin Amtrak Station last weekend, I got some pictures of a transformer car - never seen a 1:1 scale one before.
Below is a photo that we took this past Wednesday morning. A bunch of us model railroaders have been having breakfast on Wednesday mornings for over the past 10 years. Just wanted you to know that this hobby is alive and well here in Springfield, MO
Great photos everyone, I started on building a couple of silos to go with our Lionel grain elevator. The silos are all scrap pieces from the garage. I am now waiting for the drywall mud to dry so I can smooth the spiral wraps of the cardboard tubes. Nick T
My newest purchase, a modern Lionel blue and yellow Virginian FM Trainmaster body on a Lionel postwar chassis. I had this type engine in 1965 and I forgot how great they run.

Hi Engineer-Joe / The photo below is a prototypical shot. MRL - Montana Rail Link with a U.P. lash up, similar to the model. Note: not the same, but the paint design on the nose, is very close. 2 - Rail / O Gauge are hard to find. A lot of the members do custom paint jobs and the most popular brand is Atlas O, Sunset Models and MTH Premier 3.0 / DCC / Remove the pick up roller. We use these WiFi Systems to manage the trains. Engine Driver and WiThrottle

Neal, it looks real to me.
I have finally compared the Lionel O gauge Hi-Cube Boxcar with the Atlas O true O Scale Pullman-Standard 40' Hi-Cube box car.
The Lionel O gauge Hi-Cube Boxcar is not O Scale. In fact the dimensions make it a 1/64th scale Hi-cube 55' boxcar.

Great modification of the humdrum Lionel grain elevator.
I took this photo several years ago at Easton, PA. My intention was to model the scene.
